The background story for my title is kind of a funny one. I live in Boston, MA but I grew up in Dallas, TX. Everytime I go home, my parents would do normal parent stuff and make all of my favorite meals and take us to our favorite restaurants. Since I live in Boston - the land where good Mexican food is scarce - I'm pretty sure I eat my weight in Tex-Mex during my short stay in Dallas. But what to do with the home cooked food that my parents also made for me? Well of course you pack all the ham or brisket and freeze them overnight and place them in your luggage to fly back home with you. I'm not saying this is normal, but this is definitely dedication to fly frozen meat on plane 1775 miles.
And I also wanted to say thanks to my sister, Llian, for reminding of this fact and for actually coming up with the name!
So ham on a plane...get it, now? In this blog, I hope to explore the best of Boston and any noteworthy restaurants in my travels to different cities (particularly, LA, Dallas, and NYC since that's where my sisters and parents live.) I've tried to categorize my blog into sections but this might be a work in progress:
- Wednesday Dinners - my friend, Johnny and I have a weekly Wednesday dinner. We originally set this up to catch up during the week and to have a nice break mid-week. Now, we mostly do it to check out all the different Boston restaurants
- The Best of... - I have several food obsessions. This section is dedicated to the quest of finding the very best of my current food obsession
- Veggie Plates, the Anti-Kobe - I've always wanted to be a vegetarian but I am from Texas and I'm Filipino, which basically makes it nearly impossible for me to do this. But I do have my stints where I am completely (mostly) a veggie girl. This section is for all you herbivores out there. And the Anti-Kobe part is because I hate Kobe Bryant
